Universal Corporate Social Responsibility

Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an integrated social, environmental and economic contribution towards society. Our CSR strategy is aligned to the patient being at the centre of our Universe, while being committed to transforming the communities we serve – and being aligned with our core business strategy and objectives.

We are a proud responsible corporate citizen and our initiatives are driven by sustainable contributions that will have an impact on the community at large. We are particularly passionate about initiatives that involve healthcare.

We see our CSR strategy as a mechanism to empower and support local individuals, and we have been involved in various successful projects where we collaborate through enterprise and supplier development.

We have participated in various socio-economic initiatives over the past few years, with a focus being on:

  • Tertiary bursaries being provided
  • Book donations to school libraries
  • Donations of furniture to schools and community hospitals
  • Supporting charities who provide surgeries to repair cleft, lip and palate deformities
  • Donation of IT equipment to fee-free secondary schools and youth care centres
  • Providing learners access to basic medical assessments during Universal Wellness Days

All our staff are encouraged to get involved in these various initiatives, which has resulted in successful internal campaigns through environmental sustainability, learnership programmes, job shadowing initiatives and mentoring.

We will continue to commitment to a positive corporate social impact.
